Rob Lupton is a third-generation master plumber who co-owns, with his father, Precision Plumbing and Drains, located in Hamilton, Ontario. The pair boasts over 65 years of plumbing experience, serving the surrounding Hamilton and Burlington regions.
"Today, we have three vans on the road servicing our clients, with a journeyman and an apprentice operating each van," says Rob, who adds that Precision Plumbing is proud to support young, up-and-coming professionals learning the plumbing trade.
The company focuses mainly on repair work in high-rise apartment buildings, while also completing one or two new-construction projects a year. "We consider ourselves primarily a service company," he says.

Rob and his team recently discovered the Oatey Quadtro Washing Machine Outlet Box after a local wholesaler recommended it.
"After learning more about the product's features, we decided to make the switch," he explains. "We thought it worked great, especially compared with what we had been using. Now it's the only outlet box we use."
Rob particularly likes "how universal the product is," adding that he "loves how you can use either copper, PEX or CPVC connections." Quadtro's push-connect system makes joining copper, CPVC or PEX pipe simple and fast, without soldering, crimping or solvent welding.
For Rob, Quadtro's versatility is key. "The box can be flipped upside down, with the water supply at the top and the drain at the bottom," he explains.
Rob also finds it convenient that he can switch the hot and cold valves, because these water lines in an existing structure may not always be piped in the conventional manner (hot water on the left; cold on the right). The Quadtro Push Connect washing machine box allows for right, left, or center drain and bottom- or top-mount valves.
"Sometimes when I'm coming through a sidewall, I have only a couple of inches to work with,” he says. “On top of that, I often must move the outlet box over, because the electrical outlet is positioned where I planned to install the wash box.
"The fact that I can adjust the hot and cold supply and the drain from side to side is amazing," he continues.
Quadtro's proprietary lock and load valves enable left, right, or center positioning of the drain pipe. Rob also mentions he likes that the outlet box comes with a tool-free, test/drain plug.
Precision Plumbing usually orders as many as two cases of Quadtro supply boxes at a time — 24 units in each case. "A couple of our customers install stackable washer-dryers in their apartment buildings to help boost the rents. We need that much Quadtro product to streamline all the installations."
